BREEDERS CROWN FINALS THE PINNACLE OF HARNESS RACING |

Boom Western Australia horse David Hercules won't be contesting any races on Breeders Crown day on Sunday. Instead, he'll be competing in the Group 2 Breeders Crown Graduate FFA at Melton tomorrow night. Trained by David Thompson, this pic was snapped by Andy Gath this week and posted on Twitter. We can only assume he's being stabled at Gath's property while in Victoria. Read why David Hercules is the Harness Punter's best bet tomorrow night below.
With the Inter Dominion fast fading into obscurity, the Breeders Crown finals day has, for me, become the premier event in harness racing.
Racing at Melton this Sunday, there is $1.4 million up for grabs across the nine Group 1 finals.
In race order, this is what is on the card:
- 4YO Trotters Final ($50,000)
- 2YO Trotters Final ($159,000)
- 4YO Mares Final ($100,000)
- 3YO Trotters Final ($96,000)
- 2YO Colts and Geldings Final ($303,000)
- 3YO Fillies Final ($176,000)
- 3YO Colts and Geldings Final ($176,000)
- 4YO Entires and Geldings Final ($100,000)
- 2YO Fillies Final ($303,000).
There is also a 10th race on the program, an M0 to M1 Breeders Crown graduate event, which is worth $20,000.
All races on Sunday are under mobile start conditions.
Note: I'd like to have an update from Tabcorp, but they have yet to respond to my questions. I have sent them another email to give them a "friendly" reminder, so hopefully we'll have something tomorrow. Lucky I'm not holding my breath.

If you've been following Melbourne Racing tipster Harness Punter since he started contributing three weeks ago, you should be well in front.
Two of his best bets have saluted, as have two of his quaddies.
Last week, he got both.
Unfortunately, the suggested $50 quaddie for 39.6% ended up costing us money.
The quaddie on the Victorian TAB paid just $54.50.
That hasn't dented the Harness Punter's confidence, though.
He has given us a best bet for tomorrow night's meeting at Melton, as well as a quaddie and a best bet for the big day on Sunday.
This is what the Harness Punter had to say about his top selections.
Tomorrow night: David Hercules - WA horse who has a great record at Melton, taken all before him at home this time in (total forgive run in stand last time). Should press forward from the wide gate and make his own luck here.
Sunday: Mustang Mach - High speed horse who draws best of the main fancies here, should get the type of trip he loves and if that occurs will take plenty of holding out late.

Carribean Blaster gets a shampoo at Andy Gath's place ahead of his big weekend of racing. Carribean Blaster is the $3 equal favourite for the Group 1 Breeders Crown final for 4YO entires and geldings on Sunday, but he'll be racing for the second time in 48 hours when he takes to the track.
Trainer Andy Gath’s decision to enter Caribbean Blaster in a Group 2 free-for-all at Melton tomorrow night has raised more than a few eyebrows.
Despite the unusual nature of his preparation, Gath is keen to reassure punters that Caribbean Blaster is up for the challenge, having a history of backing-up quickly with excellent success.
In February this year, Caribbean Blaster took out the Fonterra Country Cups Final just two days after his win in the Rotary District 9800 Social Entrepreneurs Pace.
Gath remarks that he felt Caribbean Blaster “ran better in the second race”, as the horse “thrives on a heavy workload”.
It is not uncommon for horses of Caribbean Blaster’s calibre to race up to three times per week, providing ample recovery is provided.

Carribean Blaster winning at Melton last Friday night. Picture: Stuart McCormick, HRV. Gath intends on resting Caribbean Blaster today and then on the Saturday between the two races, with a day off before a premier meet considered “business as usual” at Gath’s Long Forest barn.
The allure of a $60,000 race, just minutes down the road from Gath Racing headquarters, is also hard to ignore.
It is all the more tempting with Caribbean Blaster’s impressive record already pushing him towards the $300,000 mark in prizemoney won.
Caribbean Blaster will compete in the Breeders Crown Graduate Pacers FFA on tomorrow night and then enter his Breeders Crown Final a $3 equal favourite in TAB Sportsbet’s fixed odds market, alongside Mustang Mach.
