SANDOWN MIDWEEK RACING PREVIEW

By Tim Hickman
10/03/2010
Dean Holland takes the ride on website tip Even Adam in the last at Sandown.
Racing tomorrow is at Sandown with the track rated a Heavy 9 as of Tuesday afternoon, which is unsurprising given the bucketing Melbourne has copped over the last few days. A shower or two is forecast for tomorrow so the track is unlikely to improve substantially.
Today we are previewing the last race on the program, the Beaulivre Handicap over 1800m. Beaulivre, a New Zealand trained galloper, won 20 races including the 1940 Caulfield Cup.

Horse
Comment
Reprisal ($10)
His best form is actually okay, but he is too inconsistent to back.
Zacroona ($12)
Hasn’t won in two and a half years, so leave me out.
Grizz ($26)
Melbourne form has only been ordinary, prefer others.
Blitz’em Riley
Scratched.
Blackbriar ($5.50)
First run for the new stable was good, but he is a little short here. Winning hope.
Don Columbo ($5)
Has managed to put two in a row together which is a good effort, but his wet track form is generally ordinary. Can win, but looking elsewhere.
Even Adam ($6.50)
Absolute mudlark and his last run was good, albeit the form has a bit of a question mark around it. Ready to win and good value.
Measurement ($12)
Ordinary horse, no.
Petro Wells ($15)
Can’t possibly have.
Spontaneous ($6)
Strike rate of 2 from 31 leaves me a bit cold, but the last run was good so he is a chance in an open race.
Celtic Empire ($11)
Not doing enough to think of him as a winning chance.
Quirina ($6)
Last run was good when the leader had an absolute picnic at the Valley. Has not seen wet ground but is bred to be a duck so she is a strong winning chance.
Northern Dan ($101)
Can’t make a case for him.
Rack It Up ($81)
Entitled to be those odds.
Secret Weekend ($61)
Can’t have.
Where’s Henry ($101)
No.

I’d back two horses here – Quirina and Even Adam.
