Final fields and markets have been released for the Group 1 races on the VRC’s big Super Saturday program of racing at Flemington. The Newmarket looks an exceptionally tough race for punters with 19 acceptances, while the Guineas has attracted only nine. The Australian Cup has seen 16 pay up, but the field is certainly not a vintage one.
The Newmarket has not seen a first up winner since 1917. Despite this, several runners, including All Silent, El Segundo, King Pulse and Trusting, are attempting to win the race after returning from a spell.
