SANDOWN RACE 5 PREVIEW

By Tim Hickman
03/03/2010
Michael Rodd takes the mount on website tip Outlandish Lad in the fifth on the program.
Racing at Sandown today is on the Lakeside track, currently rated a Dead 4. However, the weather is forecast to be sufficiently warm that an upgrade is near certain. The race we have chosen for preview today is the fifth on the program, a 0-82 Handicap over 1200m.
A comment for every runner in the race follows.

Horse
Comment
Day Out ($26)
Struggling for his best form, has limited appeal.
Iamzeus ($6)
Looked like Bernborough when just beaten at Flemington one day but has done nothing since. Not a horse of mine.
Outlandish Lad ($5.50)
Joined the Kavanagh stable mid way through his last preparation and improved panels, culminating in a win at Flemington on Oaks day. Can win first up here.
Bowhunter ($51)
Best days behind him.
Dane The Rave ($9)
Form this prep hasn’t been inspiring, prefer others.
Side Splitter ($13)
Handy at his best but some may have his measure.
Cascabel ($8)
Just going at the moment, multiples best for mine.
Sense Of Sun ($51)
Entitled to be those odds.
Akihito ($11)
In terrific form and the mare that beat him last time out is probably destined for stakes grade at some point. Should lead and give a good kick.
Easton ($6)
Unbeaten which has to be respected but there are still some queries. Not desperate to be on him here.
Zizz ($6)
Only basic first up but Oliver takes the mount this afternoon. Multiples best for mine.
Perricoota Run ($11)
Terrific run first up and Brad Rawiller has taken the ride at 54.5Kg for his brother – and the last horse he got down into that range for I think was Weekend Hussler. Now I’m not making comparisons but it’s worth noting. Winning chance.
Noble Lustre ($21)
Outclassed here.

I think Outlandish Lad is the one to beat but include Perricoota Run and Akihito in all multiples.
