MOONEE VALLEY NIGHT CUP PREVIEW

By Tim Hickman
26/02/2010
Typhoon Tracy (pictured) is a prohibitive odds on favourite for the Futurity Stakes.
The Caulfield program on Saturday looks like a tough one for punters with the Futurity Stakes being dominated by the favourite, Typhoon Tracy. As a result we have chosen to look at the Moonee Valley Night Cup, Race 7 on tonight’s program. The track will be rated a Good 3 by this stage of the evening. A comment for every runner follows.

Horse
Comment
Zavite ($7)
Likely to be scratched but the weight makes it too hard.
Grand Destiny ($3.80)
Tough, consistent stayer but under the odds.
Phaze Action ($34)
Prefer others.
Humaway ($17)
Out of form. Not for me.
The Tiger ($11)
Last two runs have been quite good in tougher company and he is well weighted. Good each way chance.
Linton Street ($16)
Looked a promising stayer in the making but his form this time in has been poor. Multiples.
Portland Paije ($7)
Broke through last time and handy at her best, chance.
Al Wafi ($8)
Much improved galloper, each way hope.
Falvette ($9.50)
Not for me.
Robrick ($71)
Not as hopeless as the odds suggest – multiples.
Jeuneys End ($8.50)
Won nicely last time but the form doesn’t look crash hot. Chance in an open race.
Wildly Excited ($9.50)
Handy stayer on the way up, not hopeless.
Montaon ($15)
Not a horse of mine.
Summer Sapphire ($61)
One for multiples at huge odds.
Mr Riggs ($31)
Looking elsewhere.
Pentiffic ($31)
Champion steeplechaser but not that effective on the flat. Not for me.

The Tiger looks to be good each way value at $11.
