Product Review
- OVER THE ODDS is a Darwin based corporate bookmaker.
- OVER THE ODDS is a racing (thoroughbreds, harness and greyhounds) and sports bookmaker.
- If Unitab bet on the race, or the sporting event, so does OVER THE ODDS.
- "POLI" (similar to Paypal) is now available for clients to be able to debit bank personal accounts (cheque, savings, etc) and credit monies direct to your OVER THE ODDS account.
- OVER THE ODDS doesn't put up a price fluctuation service on their website, but clients can ring OVER THE ODDS 1800 number and get those details right up until the jump. The operator will advise the current bookmaker's price and respective tote prices and place the bet on the customer's preferred choice from the available options. In the event of the bet being placed at BEST TOTE at the customers request, the client is assured of getting paid "better than best tote" (of Unitab, NSW Tab and Super Tab) for win bets on all metropolitan racing. For all other race betting, "BEST TOTE" is considered to be better than two totes. You may recall from earlier in this text that OVER THE ODDS bet on everything that Unitab bet on, therefore they naturally field on Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth gallops meetings each Saturday afternoon.
- OVER THE ODDS pays "better than three totes on all metropolitan thoroughbred meetings for win bets, irrespective of the day of the week the meeting is conducted - in other words a Doomben Wednesday or Friday meeting gets treated the same as a Saturday Doomben meeting.
- Place betting is also allowed on all three codes of racing at OVER THE ODDS, with the client guaranteed to get paid "better than two totes", so for instance if a runner pays $2 (for a place) on Unitab, $2.10 (for a place) in Victoria and $2.20 (for a place) in New South Wales, the client would get paid $2.11 if betting on the phone direct to the 1800 number, but an even higher dividend of $2.15 if he or she was betting via the Internet.
- Exotics betting is allowed at OVER THE ODDS, but only via box trifectas and box quinellas, these being paid out at ten cents better than middle tote. "We don't bet on exactas as the pools in TABs can be a bit thin and that can distort dividends", Director Graham Tew stated.
- Fixed odds betting on future racing, when available, is displayed via the "Sports" click on button on the home page of OVER THE ODDS website.
- The maximum sign-up bonus is $500 per new client - subject to certain conditions. In layman's terms, if you were to open an account at OVER THE ODDS with say $1,000 you will get an additional $500 in Free Bets credited to your account, subject to certain conditions. The first of those conditions is that the original stake must be turned over twice to earn the bonus. No bet can be more than 20% of the amount you are seeking the bonus on, which in effect means you must have a minimum of ten bets to turn over 100% of your deposit. Put simply, if you put $1,000 in to open your account, you can't have $1,000 on Weekend Hussler at 20-1 on in the set weights Moree Cup and suddenly have $1,500 in your account if Weekend Hussler wins. You must have at least ten bets to the value of no more than $200 to turnover the $2,000. In respect of the bonus, only turnover on thoroughbred, harness racing and greyhound racing counts, and the Free Bets can be taken at no more than $100 per bet, and only on racing.
- There is a "Join" form on OVER THE ODDS website of www.overtheodds.com.au so technically a client, who legally must be aged over 18 years of age to join, can fill in his or her details on the "Join" form and the system will confirm a PIN and a password immediately. The client can then lodge a credit card deposit and commence betting - the whole process takes only a matter of minutes.
